A 50-year-old Queensland woman who was caught by police while driving drunk twice in one day was sentenced today at Southport Magistrates’ Court.
Tina Regekova was stopped by police officers for a license check in Mount Nathan in Gold Coast hinterland on April 12.

Regetsova was tested at a nearby police station, where her blood alcohol level was found to be four times the legal limit, with a reading of 0.199.

Regetsova’s lawyer said today that the woman had been taking medication for insomnia and had been starving.

She did not realize she was impaired before jumping behind the wheel, the court heard.

The police immediately confiscated her license and she was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Regetsova arranged for a carpool to transport her home.

Less than three hours later, she was again detained by the same police officer.

“I told you not to drive,” the officer said in video recorded by a body camera.

Still intoxicated from before, Regetsova was tested again for alcohol, and the result was 0.183.

She was then charged with another charge of driving while intoxicated and an additional charge of driving while disqualified.

In court today, she pleaded guilty to the three motor vehicle violations.

Her license was disqualified for a total of three years and she was fined $750.

Regetsova apologized as she spoke to reporters outside court.

“I’m really sorry this happened,” she said.
