Second round May Social security for disability checks will be cashed this week. (If you never received your April SSDI check, Here’s what you need to do.) This week’s payments will be made to beneficiaries whose birthdays fall somewhere between the 1st and 10th of the month.
There are four scheduled payment dates in May. Your payment date depends on when you started receiving SSDI, as well as your date of birth. If you do not receive payment by the end of the month, you may need to contact the Social Security Administration.
Below we have listed the dates your SSDI money may arrive. Note that SSDI is paid on the same day as Social security payments.
Payment schedule if you received SSDI in 1997 or earlier
If you have been an SSDI recipient since May 1997 or before, your payment should arrive on the third day of each month.
There are also exceptions. If the third day of the month falls on a weekend or holiday, you will receive your payment on the nearest business day. For example, March 3rd fell on a weekend, so some SSDI recipients received their payments two days early, on March 1st.
When your check arrives depends on your date of birth and the year you started receiving SSDI money.
Everyone else’s schedule depends on their birthday
Payments for those who have not received SSDI since 1997 or earlier follow the same schedule as Social Security. Here’s how it works:
- If your birthday is between the 1st and 10th of the month, your payment will be sent on the second Wednesday of the month.
- If your birthday is between the 11th and 20th of the month, your payment will be sent on the third Wednesday of the month.
- If your birthday is between the 21st and 31st of the month, your payment will be sent on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
When will you receive your SSDI payment in May?
Here’s when your payment should arrive:
May 3: Payment for those who received SSDI before May 1997.
May 8: SSDI payment for those whose birthdays fall between the first and the 10th of a given month.
May 15: SSDI payment for those whose birthdays fall between the 11th and 20th of a given month.
May 22: SSDI payment for those whose birthdays fall between the 21st and 31st of a given month.
