A plane reporting a problem with its landing gear is circling Newcastle Airport New South Wales with several people on board.
The plane is believed to be able to carry up to three passengers along with two crew members.
Pilots try to burn fuel before attempting to land.
Emergency services, including multiple fire engines and ambulances, are on standby at the scene.
The police confirmed that they were contacted about the problem around 9.30 am.
“Emergency services were called to Newcastle Airport following reports of an aircraft with mechanical problems,” a spokesman said.
“No further details are known at this stage.”
