A man and five children have been arrested for an alleged attack on a carrier in Sydneyinner west.

The rider was attacked while trying to make a delivery in Gleb on April 15, police said.

Video of the incident shows the rider pulling away from the group as they shout and throw glass bottles at him, one shattering at his feet.

“Catch him now, catch him now,” a child can be heard saying before the rider runs off in terror.

One local resident said the gang “pushed (the rider) off his bike, harassing him, stealing the food” as they circled him.

“These kids are on the street most nights,” the resident said.

Police were called to Glebe Point Rd about 1am on April 15, but the motorcyclist and the alleged attackers had left before officers arrived.

On Thursday, police confirmed that an 18-year-old man and five children had been arrested over the incident.

On Wednesday, the 18-year-old was charged with criminal mischief and assault causing bodily harm in the company of others.

Police refused him bail to appear at Newtown Local Court on Thursday.

As of April 17, police have also charged a 17-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy for the incident.

A 12-year-old boy and girl were also arrested but were too young to be charged and will attend youth conferences.

Local residents and business owners are frustrated by a spike in youth crime in the area.

A Glebe cafe worker said youth gangs “feel like they’re invincible”.

The cafe worker said she had to fight a gang last month and was allegedly attacked by a 14-year-old girl.

“They have no fear. They have absolutely no fear. And that’s the scary thing,” she told 7NEWS.
