Boulder unlike any encountered before spotted on Mars

“In terms of the size, shape and arrangement of its mineral grains and crystals – and potentially its chemical composition – Atoko Point is unlike any rock the rover has encountered before,” NASA said online.
Some Perseverance scientists suggest that the minerals that make up Atoko Point were produced in a subsurface body of magma that is likely now exposed at the rim of the crater.
Others suggest that the stone, which is about 45 cm wide and 35 cm high, was transported to its current location by swift Martian waters eons ago.
