Today’s NYT Strands Hints, Answer and Help for June 21, #110

[ad_1]

be careful Wordle and Connections, comes Strands. Like those two games, Strands is an online New York Times word game. Strands is currently only in beta, so it doesn’t appear in The New York Times Games app yet. You must go directly to the game. And since it’s in beta, which means it’s still being tested, it could be improved before it’s fully released. I go into depth about rules for Strands in this story.

Strands reminds me of those old fashioned word search books they used to sell at every grocery store checkout lane. You are given a grid of letters, but unlike the Word Find books, there is no list of words. This makes the game fun – and frustrating.

And if you’re reading this, you probably need help the june 21 thread puzzle, so here we go. Warning: Scroll down too far too fast and you’ll see spoilers.

Hint for today’s Strands puzzle

Today’s Strands topic is: We are doing.

But if that doesn’t help, here’s a clue: Dear beloved…

Hints to unlock hints in the game

Your goal is to find hidden words that match the theme of the puzzle. If you’re stuck, find any words you can. Each time you find three words of four or more letters, Strands will reveal one of the theme words. These are the words I used to get these hints, but any word of four or more letters you can find will work.

SLIM, REDS, FIRE, CADDY, DRIFT, DATE, SEND, CUTE, CANE

Answers for today’s Strands puzzle

These are the answers that are related to the topic. The object of the puzzle is to find them all, including the spangram, a themed word that reaches from one side of the puzzle to the other. When you get them all (I originally thought there were always eight, but learned that the number can vary), every letter on the board will be used. Here are the answers without spangram.

VOWS, RING, KISS, BOUQUET, CAKE, DANCE, FRIENDS, FAMILY

Today’s Strands spangram

Today’s Strands spangram is WEDDING. To write it, start with the letter W, which is four lines down on the far right, and scroll through the puzzle.

How to play NYT Strands

1. Use today’s topic to search for words related to that topic. Do you see one? Drag or click the letters in order. Click on the last letter twice to submit your guess. If you’ve found a topic word, it will light up blue and stay that way.

2. Other words you find count as hints that give you clues about the topic words. Find three clues (they must have at least four letters each) and the game will reward you by showing you a theme word. But if you can’t decipher it, find three more clue words and the game will highlight the letters of the theme word in order.

3. Hunting for spangram, a special theme word that covers the entire puzzle, although it can flow across or from top to bottom. It summarizes the theme of the puzzle.

4. When you are done, you will have used every letter on the board in either a theme word or a spangram. Topic words fill the entire board and do not overlap.
