Today’s NYT Strands Hints, Answers, and Help for June 13, #102

[ad_1]

be careful Wordle and Connections, here comes Strands. Like those two games, Strands is an online New York Times word game. Strands is currently only in beta, so it doesn’t appear in The New York Times Games app yet. You must go directly to the game. And since it’s in beta, which means it’s still being tested, it could be improved before it’s fully released. I go deep into rules for Strands in this story.

To be honest, Strands reminds me of those old fashioned word search books they used to sell at every grocery store checkout lane. Are you a grid of letters but not a list of words. This makes the game fun – and frustrating. And if you’re reading this, you probably need help today’s Strands puzzle, so here we go. Warning: Scroll down too far too fast and you’ll see spoilers.

Hint for today’s Strands puzzle

Today’s Strands topic is: Good times are ahead.

But if that doesn’t help, here’s a hint: Party it up, Garth.

Hints to unlock hints in the game

Strands will give you the theme words, but you have to earn them. Find three words of four or more letters and Strands will highlight a theme word. These are the keywords I used to get hints, but any word of four or more letters you can find will work.

ROPE, ROPE, PAIN, REACH, LISTEN, SAL, PART, PARTY, TRAP, HARBOR, ROOM, POOR, SEA, PALE, CUT, LAMP

Answers for today’s Strands puzzle

These are the theme answers that are related to the theme of good times ahead. The object of the puzzle is to find eight, including a spangram, a theme word that reaches from one side of the puzzle to the other. When you have all eight, every letter on the board will be used.

BOAT, COUNT, SERVICE, HEART, ANIMAL, POOP, SHAKE

Today’s Strands spangram

Today’s Strands spangram is AFTERPARTY. As here, all the answers are words that can be used in a phrase after the word “party”.

How to play NYT Strands

1. Use today’s topic to search for words related to that topic. Do you see one? Drag or click the letters in order. Click the last letter twice to submit your guess. If you’ve found a topic word, it will light up blue and stay that way.

2. Other words you find are considered clues that give you clues about the topic words. Find three clues (they must have at least four letters each) and the game will reward you by showing you a theme word. But if you can’t decipher it, find three more clue words and the game will highlight the letters of the theme word in order.

3. Hunting for spangram, a special theme word that covers the entire puzzle, although it can flow across or from top to bottom. It summarizes the theme of the puzzle.

4. When you are done, you will have used every letter on the board in either a theme word or a spangram. Topic words fill the entire board and do not overlap.
